PartyGammon is a part of Party gambling group which operates one of the largest online poker sites: Party Poker, which has established quite the reputation for itself as one of the most popular Poker sites globally, at least until they were outlawed from capturing the US market. PartyGammon was making history with the first backgammon tournament ever, that had a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million, that tournament was held at the Bahamas in 2007!

PartyGammon offers cash games, matches and sit and go or scheduled tournaments, to play for real or play money. The majority of the games played are regular money games, but you will find opponents for matches as well. At PartyGammon you can play up to four games simultaneously, while in poker this might be ok, in backgammon this makes no sense.

To new customers PartyGammon will give cash bonuses on top of your deposits.

Software:

The PartyGammon software has to be downloaded and installed. The software appears pretty impressive and realistic at first glance, with its 3D style boards, see the screenshots on top. The checkers can be moved both by clicking (highest number first) on them or simply drag and drop the checkers. A nice feature for beginners is the one that shows where a checker can move, once you hover with your mouse over the checker.
The non resizable boards (see screenshot at the top) are similar in size and perspective to those of GammonEmpire and Play65. Games and matches can be played with these time settings:

  • Normal 45 seconds per move and 3 minutes global time
  • Fast 30 seconds per move and 2 minutes global time
  • Express 15 seconds per move and 1 minute global time

Some features will need improvement to match its competitors. There is no option for 2D view and no skins to choose from.

For the game analysis, your saved games are stored by default in C:\[%Program Files%]\PartyGaming\PartyGammon\SavedGames\. Officially PartyGammon is not using a rating system anymore, at least there is no rating shown in the lobby. However if you open the saved files with a regular text editor (e.g.: notepad) you will see that there still is a rating assigned to the players, this could be quite useful for you.
