PlayWSOB runs several exclusive tournamnets, where you can
qualify for the World Backgammon Championships and other WSOB
stops. There is also the WSOB Online Tour running throughout this
year which has €5,000 added in the WSOB Race.
PlayWSOB is part of the excellent Melita Gaming Network (also
used by Truemoneygames, McPoker and Checkraiser) which offers you
both poker games and backgammon room all in one place, either just
for fun or for money. Under the Backgammon area, which is of course
what we're all most interested in, the software does clearly create
a division into single games, matches, and then there's also a
separate tournament section, that is where you will find all the
qualifications for the World Backgammon
Championships in Monte Carlo.
After downloading and while creating an account you can use the
sign up code: CHECKERPLAY that gives you a
200% bonus up to 500 €. The bonus will be released
in steps of 10 €, by earning frequent player points.
There are many tournaments running each day, with free rolls
running every day. A nice software feature is that you can see the
entire draw sheet.
The competition in money games and matches for money is rather
tough, so watch out who you play and carefully analyze the games.
There is no rating system anymore, so you have no indication on how
strong your opponent might be.
Software:
The software is a download only software client
that supports many different languages. The software is
absolutely the best compared to the competitors. The lobby
is well structured and easy to navigate. You have these areas

- Sit & Go: here you find jackpots (4 players) for money or
fun
- Tournaments, that is where you find the qualifications for the
World Backgammon Championships (€2.600 packages including
entry fee, hotel and travel)
For the board you can choose from a variety of different
layouts, either 2D or 3D. Personally I like the design "2D-Wood I",
this design is very clear and realistic. The board can be resized
to any size even full screen, a feature that is very nice if you
have a big screen. You can also play multiple games at a time
(not recommended!) and arrange the boards on your screen.
Security
PlayWSOB / Melita Gaming Network has high reputation for being a
very safe site which means you can play even high stakes
tournaments without fear of bots or cheats.

The rake per game is capped at €15, regardless
of the stake that is being played.
Example: If you win a gammon game (2 points) with an initial sum
involved of €5, then €9.12 will be added to your account and €10
will be deducted from your opponents balance. The commission is
4.4% * €20= €0.88

With an increase of 0.25% per point for each
stake, up to a maximum of 7 points.
Example: You play a Match up to 3 points with sum involved of
€20. The rake for a 3-point match has a base commission of
3.9%+2*0.25%=4.4% The commission from each player is €20*4.4%=€0.88
(the winner pays both their commissions, for a total of €1.76).
€18.24 will be added to the winners balance and €20 will be
deducted from the losers balance.
Tournament play
Tournament rake is overall excellent value at around 5% across
most tourneys in the lobby, married with what you get back with
bonus, is even less.
